Introduction
So far, an interdisciplinary medical history in the field of optometry has not been applied and, in most cases, is neglected. However, the initial questioning is crucially significant for all further decisions in the process. This leads to the problem statement of how the future client journey looks like for the optical sector in an interdisciplinary network.
Research
In the book „Interdisciplinary Optometry“ by Dr. Michaela Friedrich, it is depicted that traditional German optometry possesses a solid foundational knowledge of refractive errors and their correction. However, the process of vision is often considered in isolation. In contrast, Anglo-American influenced optometry deals with binocular disorders and their corresponding treatment. This allows for offering appropriate management to individuals with visual impairments. Nowadays, visual disorders rarely occur in isolation.
In optometric practice, visual acuity (Visus) remains the primary measure for assessing the performance of the visual system. Changes in vision are usually not taken into account. Some well-founded results and insights exist regarding environmental influences on new vision and visual behavior, as well as visual disorders and dysfunctions in other subsystems or the overall human system, particularly from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Realization
As the starting format for the prototype, I have chosen a 10.5″ tablet, which, unlike desktop PCs or laptops, allows for more flexible communication and documentation. The focus of my work lies in the area of medical history-taking (anamnesis), as it is significantly essential for the subsequent collaborative design and communication of further fields, particularly in the realm of interdisciplinary networking.
